In light of the rise in COVID-19 cases, we have made the difficult decision to begin the school year using a hybrid model that takes into account the current situation on each island.

After much consideration, we are excited to offer a variety of options as we understand that this way of learning presents many challenges to families with preschoolers.

Young children learn through social interaction and hands on experiences and we are working hard to provide that in the best and safest ways possible.

COVID 19 LEARNING PLANS

Baseline and ongoing informal assessments will be completed to ensure that we are providing each child with what he/she needs

As school has been closed for many months, we will be working with parents to assess and reassess skills/concepts for each age level.

In person

We expect to open our Spanish Wells and Abaco locations with in person learning, with strict COVID-19 santizing and safety protocols in place.

Daily/Weekly Zoom Sessions

In the beginning, interacting in this way may take some time to get accustomed to or reacquainted  and we will schedule some informal “getting to know you sessions” before we get into the curriculum.

Curriculum

The Children’s Place uses a variety of hands on approaches and materials from Handwriting without Tears, Reggio Emilia and Montessori.

Our activities will include movement, music and art along with the academics needed for each grade level.

Kindergarten and First Grade Class Zoom Sessions

These will include journal time, phonics/phonemic awareness lessons and math using Montessori materials and other favorites such as dice!

Individual Zoom Sessions

These 15/20 minute sessions can be scheduled to provide extra support or one on one time with the teacher.

Play and Learn packages tailored to each age level

These will be available for pick up on a weekly/monthly basis.

Storytime videos

Some of our favorite stories will be recorded and shared through our YouTube channel so that they can be viewed at any time

Parent support through Zoom/phone calls/email

We know that this is difficult time for many families and we would love to be able to provide support as we all navigate this new way of teaching/learning.
